Salvador Late or Early by Sandra Cisneros

I have to be honest, this short story almost makes me cry. It is really sad, although it only describes the boy and his everyday routine it makes you think on the whole life of the little boy. "Salvador whose name the teacher cannot remember, is a boy who is no one's friend..." That part is where you start picturing the little boy, what he has been through.  The description of everything is what creates the atmosphere and makes it sad. Reaching the ending only causes you to feel more sorry for the boy, because you can infer that the story of that one day that is described is the story of his life, he will do that day after day, he is alone and he can not change that. It might be short but it is a really touchings story.

  1. It has been very nice for me as a teacher to find out that so many of you share my sensitivity concerning this vignette. I remember how much I loved it when I read it for the first time, but, to say the truth, the first time I taught it (years ago), it was a disaster.
Nice blog, girl. Keep up the good work.
