The Californian's Tale by Mark Twain

I really enjoyed this story, because although it includes foreshadowing, it is still not that predictable. I think what I enjoyed the most is the type of narrator. Since it is an outsider narrator the ending is not that expected. Thanks to the outside narrator the story feels as though as you are living it with the character (narrator), because although you know what is going on you do not truly know why the owner of the cottage behaves like that, or why does everybody cries when he reads the letter. I think why I really enjoyed the story was because of the ending; it is surprising how true friends stay with you through everything.
